About us

Lubbock Cancer Center is large enough to provide all of the services of much larger facilities yet small enough to care about you. You will get our full attention every time you visit, and you’re never a number here. Staffed by a skillful, experienced healthcare team, The Breast Center at Wellness Lubbock provides a comprehensive approach to breast cancer detection, treatment and follow-up care.

An Integrated Approach to Care
Our patients feel part of our family, and they trust Dr. Jui-Lien “Lillian” Chou to make the best diagnosis and treatment decisions. Dr. Chou believes in an integrated approach to care so that breast cancer can be caught early and the patient has the widest range of treatment options available.

Dr. Chou and her team will be happy to answer your questions about treatment options. We welcome self-referrals and are pleased to work closely with your primary care physician or other healthcare provider to develop comprehensive care plans. Whether you come to us for comprehensive screenings, to evaluate breast health test results, to offer a second opinion or to provide treatment for breast cancer, we will work closely with you and your family to make individualized decisions about your treatment options.

Leading-edge Treatment Options
The Breast Center at Wellness Lubbock uses the latest technology to screen for and treat breast cancer, including high-dose-rate (HDR) brachytherapy and intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). With image-guided radiotherapy (IGRT), we use a combination of 3D x-ray and ultrasound images to assure accurate targeting of the tumor.

Breast Wellness Services

Early Detection Saves Lives
Yearly mammograms are recommended starting at age 40 and continuing for as long as a woman is in good health. Clinical breast exam (CBE) should be part of a periodic health exam, about every 3 years for women in their 20s, and 30s and every year for women 40 and over.

Women should know how their breasts normally feel and report any breast change promptly to their health care providers. Breast self-exam (BSE) is an option for women starting in their 20s.

Digital Breast Mammography

Digital mammography with Computer Aided Detection (CAD) offers higher resolution and higher quality images compared to traditional mammograms taken on film. Digital image capture improves contrast, shortens exam time, and allows image exchange with other physicians without information loss.

Our Computed Radiography (FCR) System from FUJIFILMS is the world's first CR mammography system to gain FDA (Food and Drug Administration) approval.

Osteoporosis Bone Density Testing

A bone density test is a measurement of the density of the minerals in your bones. It is the single most useful procedure in the diagnosis of osteoporosis and evaluation of fracture risk. The lower your bone density, the higher your risk of fracture.

Local Anesthesia with Stereotatic Biopsy

Sometimes MRI, mammograms, and ultrasounds show suspicious lesions that need further evaluation. Using digital images, stereotatic breast biopsy uses a computer-guided needle to biopsy breast lesions. This allows the patient to undergo this procedure with local anesthesia instead of undergoing surgery.

Advancing Breast Imaging with MRI

The Aurora Dedicated Breast MRI is designed from the beginning specifically for breast anatomy, unlike whole-body MRI systems that require after-market modifications.

Every functional component of our system, from the patient bed to the proprietary Computer Aided Detection (CAD) system to the integrated biopsy capability, is created solely for breast MRI.

As specialist in this diagnostic category, we have dedicated ourselves and our machine to breast MRI. The result is a diagnostic resource offering superior image quality and performance.

The truly dedicated and truly integrated Aurora Breast MRI System provides you with the total solution in breast MRI for applications, including evaluation of those at high risk for breast cancer, cancer staging, lesion characterization, occult cancer detections, as well as other clinical indications.
