Dr. Eugene S. Kulaga of the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of Monmouth has received advanced training in the treatment of TMD & sleep disorders and is a graduate of the Institute for Advanced TMJ Studies. By implementing the methods developed by The Institute for diagnosing and treating these disorders, Dr. Kulaga is able to make use of non-invasive and non-surgical approaches to achieve the safest and the most rapid and lasting recovery. In practice at the Jersey Shore since 1985, Dr. Kulaga graduated from Georgetown University School of Dentistry. He has completed over 1,000 hours of continuing education including a mini-residency and advanced mini-residency on temporomandibular joint disorders (TMD). Other education includes an orthodontic mini-residency and sleep disorder courses. He established the TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centre of Monmouth in May 2006, focusing on TMJ (jaw joint disorders), orofacial pain, snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, and orthodontics. Dr. Kulaga continues monthly to consult with the other TMD & Sleep Therapy Centres Internationale. He is involved in a fellowship program in orofacial pain from 2007 through 2011 at UMDNJ.
His philosophy of treatment is a conservative, non-surgical approach with multidisciplinary referrals to physicians as needed. State of the art equipment the office uses includes: EMG (non needle), Joint Vibration Analysis, Jaw Tracking, Pharyngometer/Rhinometer, tomography, and T-Scan (for occusal analysis). Physical therapy modalities include: Energex, Iontophoresis, Ultrasound, Phonophoresis, TENS, and Cold Laser.
