Our goal is to help you feel comfortable and anxiety-free. This is important because scheduling and adhering to a regular dental health plan is your best defense against long-term dental problems. We want to help you keep a healthy smile for the rest of your life. Our office focuses on preventing problems before they develop. To accomplish this we use only the most respected dental laboratories and the highest-quality materials and technologies for your procedures.
Your comfort is our priority
We realize that the dentist office can be a source of anxiety for some people. That's why we've taken every measure possible to ensure a comfortable experience.
During every office visit we'll explain the procedures we will be conducting. Should you experience any discomfort during your visit simply let us know how you are feeling. If you need a break, something to make you more comfortable, such as music or a drink of water, we will provide it. We want you to know that you are in control of your visit.
Our office is focused on a new era of dental treatment. You no longer have to dread or avoid dental care out of fear of pain or discomfort. We offer a variety of products and dental-care technologies that provide you with a comfortable experience.
Some procedures will require local anaesthetic. In these situations a pleasant flavored gel anaesthetic is gently applied to the gum area to reduce the initial pinch. To further reduce discomfort, we warm the anaesthetic before injection and use the thinnest gauge needle available to lessen the pinch.
If you need further relaxation, we can gently put you at ease with nitrous oxide (laughing gas) or oral relaxation medications. These methods are safe and cause no long-term effects.
To further make your visit as comfortable as possible, we provide comforts such as blankets, warm towels, water or juices. In addition, Dr. Potempa and his entire staff are trained in using gentle touch techniques throughout your treament.
Reducing x-ray radiation
Through the use of Computerized Digital Radiography (CDR) (link) we have reduced the amount of radiation received by patients undergoing routine x-rays by more than 80 percent. We also use a lead shield with our CDR, even though the amount of radiation you will be exposed to is less than what you might receive during a sunny walk in the park.

Developing a personal dental health plan for you
Our office is uniquely designed to be able to provide you with total dental care.
It all starts with a comprehensive oral examination which includes all parts of your mouth. This provides Dr. Greg with detailed information about the health of your teeth, gums and related sectors.
Your comprehensive examination will include x-rays, including a panoramic x-ray of your entire mouth. Using the information gathered, Dr. Greg will study the results and recommend a personalized dental health plan. This will include an explanation of any treatments deemed necessary.

Preventing dental problems
Learning the proper way to care for your teeth and gums combined with regular professional cleanings are usually all that is needed to preserve a healthy mouth. Our office can provide you with both: dental education and professional cleanings. Over 75 percent of Americans over age 35 have some form of gum disease. Gum disease is worth preventing. If you have gum disease, it will be detected during a cleaning appointment. Upon detection, Dr. Greg will be able to recommend a treatment plan.

Cavity treatment
Dental sealants are proven to prevent cavities. These plastic professionally-applied sealants are placed on the chewing surface of back teeth. They provide a physical barrier against cavity-causing bacteria. While marketed primarily to children, adults who want to avoid the risk of cavities can benefit from the application of sealants.

Dental accidents
When teeth are damaged due to an accident, time is of the essence. Our wide range of cosmetic procedures provide options for reconstruction and restorative solutions. Dr. Potempa is professionally trained to be able to provide you with the options for making the best decision for your situation.

Tooth preservation
Helping you maintain a natural set of healthy teeth is our first priority. Sometimes a tooth is weakened to the point of infection or injury. In these instances special treatment is required to maintain that tooth as a healthy part of your mouth. In some cases this may mean a root canal. If you are experiencing pain, sensitivity to cold or heat, tooth discoloration or gum swelling, for the good of your overall health you should contact a dentist. Our office is specially trained in the latest endodontic procedures that allow us to provide you a stress- and pain-free environment in dealing with root canal (link) situations.

Uncomplicated Extractions
In extreme situations the decision to remove a tooth may be the best option in order to maintain your overall dental health. In this situation Dr. Potempa will work with you to explain the situation. We use dental extraction methods that ensure a pain-free extraction. You will have your choice of anaesthetics. Your extraction will be followed by a long-term care plan.

Crowns, Implants and Bridges
Dental implants are the closest thing to natural teeth. A dental implant can replace a single tooth or full dentures. Implants are both functionally and cosmetically pleasing. In some situations an implant crown may be all that is necessary. In these sitatuions, Dr. Greg is specially trained to provide this service. When a dental implant is needed Dr. Greg will work closely with Dr. Bob Piele (SP), considered among the finest oral surgeons in the country, for treatment. Dr. Greg and Dr. Piele will work closely throughout your treatment to ensure your satisfaction.

Composite Fillings, exclusively
When dealing with cavities, when given a choice, many patients choose white composite fillings.White composite fillings restore the natural look to a tooth. Because they bond to the tooth, they protect more of the original tooth structure and restore most of its original strength. White composite fillings are also less sensitive to heat or cold and they are mercury-free. In 1985, Dr. Greg was one of the first dentists to offer the benefit of composite fillings to his patients. The decision to go “mercury free” and replace mercury fillings with composite fillings in back teeth was based on his commitment to the the long-term dental health of his patients. Studies continue to support that the use of composite fillings dramatically reduces the incidence of fractured teeth.

Porcelain Veneers
Here's a beautiful way to correct stained, chipped and crooked teeth and turn them into bright, straight natural-looking teeth. This glass-like ceramic material is custom-made to fit your teeth and match the color of your surrounding teeth.

Porcelain Crowns
Porcelain is considered the most visually pleasing material for crowns and bridges. Porcelain crowns are an excellent choice for stabilizing front teeth. Porcelain bridges are a natural choice for filling the space between missing teeth, thus reducing susceptibility to tooth decay and gum disease.

Root Canal: special treatment for special teeth
Nothing is as good as your natural teeth. But, when a tooth is weakened to the point of infection or injury, it needs special treatment to remain a healthy part of your mouth. If you are experiencing pain, sensitivity to cold or heat, tooth discoloration or gum swelling, you might need a root canal. The good news is that root canals aren't the pain they used to be. Our procedure for root canal therapy is quiet, comfortable and produces superior results for our patients.

Relief of jaw pain headaches and upper body pain
It's officially called TMJ, but you know it as a migrane, sore teeth or an aching jaw. In many cases TMJ is caused by a combination of "clenching" teeth, usually while sleeping, with a misalignment between a patients “bite” and jaw joints.
Dr. Greg has experienced great success with patients dealing with TMJ problems by combining the neuromuscular approach to joint problem treatment with the NTI Tension Supression System.
The NTI Tension Supression System is the only FDA-approved dental device that prevents clenching without surgery. By wearing a small device similar to a mouth guard you can eliminate these pains and the problems they can lead to such as cracked teeth and sore muscles in the face, neck and back.
This combination treatment for TMJ produces “happy muscles” which in turn provides our patients with “happy, pain-free joints”.

Bleaching, including Power Bleaching.
The Deep Bleaching technique is recognized as the most effective whitening technique ever invented. It is especially popular with patients because it is gentle on sensitive teeth. It is safe and long-lasting and it allows you to choose a smile as white as you wish. The Deep Bleaching process begins with an in-office procedure and is supported by a simple home maintenance program.
