About us
After graduating from Southern Illinois University- School Of Dental Medicine in 1980, Dr. John Schmidt completed a Hospital based General Practice Residency and has been practicing in Sandwich since 1981. His dedication to continuing education fosters an innovative approach to compassionate dentisty.
In 2007, through hard work and commitment, Dr. Schmidt was awarded Fellowship of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, and is on the consulting staff at Valley West Community Hospital. His dedication toward advanced education is clearly demonstrated in his practice, providing General and Cosmetic Dentistry as well as Dental Sleep Medicine and the placement and restoration of Dental Implants.
While not in the office, Dr. Schmidt keeps active and busy with his teenage sons, Dylan and Austin. He can often be found cheering them on at their numerous activities. In his free time he enjoys reading, cooking, and water and snow sports.
Dr. Schmidt kindheartedly gives back to his community through participation in the Dentist With A Heart program; providing free dental services to those in need. He has also found participation in many mission trips, extending his services at home and abroad, to be personally rewarding. Dr. Schmidt has built strong ties to his local community by serving with the Rotary Club, Sandwich Commerce Association, and supporting many local youth athletics. He has also served as Trustee of the Sandwich District Library, and as a Board Member of the Kishwaukee Health Foundation.
