About us
Robert A. McCulla, DDS
I truly love helping the people of our community and am blessed to do what I love for over half my lifetime. I have seen many lives changed for the better through dentistry, and I continue to enjoy coming to work every day. My greatest joy in dentistry is helping others get what they want, whether that is overcoming a dental fear or improving a smile with orthodontics, Invisalign, or cosmetic dentistry. My patients appreciate what I do for them, and I am grateful to be part of their lives.
Education and Continuing Education
Before becoming a dentist, I attained my Bachelor of Science Degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Southern California, and my DDS Degree from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Although my formal education is complete, I know that my dental studies will last a lifetime. I am passionate about staying current with the most advanced and effective treatments in order to ensure my patients the highest-quality care.
My team and I regularly attend courses on restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, sedation dentistry, orthodontics, Invisalign, and periodontal therapy. We also attend many courses that focus on listening and communicating with each other and our patients. I have also had the opportunity to teach other dentists about communication skills and to help them help their patients.
As part of my continuing education, I am a member of the following professional organizations:
- American Dental Association
- California Dental Association
- Academy of General Dentistry
- Stanislaus Dental Society
- Dental Organization of Conscious Sedation
- International Association for Orthodontics
- American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- Academy for Sports Dentistry
- Crown Council
In the Practice
I have been practicing dentistry since 1983, and I am proud to bring smiles to life every day. My goal is to help each patient attain and maintain optimal oral health while also providing a positive experience in every aspect of our interactions. Every patient is treated with respect and listened to in order to give them the care they deserve. We inform patients about everything we see and talk about how to give them exactly what they need in a way that fits their budget.
I receive great satisfaction in providing care to our patients every day, but the greatest gift is when I see lives of my patients changed through my work. The people whose lives are changed the most come in to our office shy or lacking self-confidence due to their teeth. After treatment with us, they not only love their smile and feel great about how they look, but they are often relieved at how easy and wonderful it can be to see their dentist!
My team and I work together in every aspect of patient care, and I am lucky to have such an amazing team with many years of experience in dentistry. Part of what make our team special and successful is their willingness to learn and change what they do in order to stay abreast with the most comfortable and efficient dental methods. Our team members are here because they love their profession, they love working together, and they care about our patients. They are all good listeners, care-givers and problem-solvers, and our patients love them!
Service we offer
DIAGNOdent Laser Cavity Screening
DIAGNOdent is a revolutionary new way for your dentist to find even the smallest areas of tooth decay and cavities. By using the advanced DIAGNOdent technology, we are able to treat small cavities and areas of tooth decay before they become larger issues requiring multiple procedures. DIAGNOdent is a quick, comfortable process that helps you and your doctor keep your smile healthy and happy for a lifetime.
How does DIAGNOdent work?
DIAGNOdent uses a precise laser scanning system to scan over all of your teeth while sending out an audio signal and registering a digital read-out. By measuring the fluorescence within each tooth’s structure, your dentist can identify where there may be cavities developing in the small spaces between, on, and around your teeth.
DIAGNOdent is comfortable and takes only a few short minutes to scan your entire mouth for cavities and decay. Detecting tooth decay as early as possible helps eliminate the number of costly treatments that you may need down the line and helps treat small problems before they become serious dental cases.
Not all cavities are noticeable without the help of the advanced DIAGNOdent laser screening.
Most tooth decay begins in the tiny cracks and grooves of your tooth’s surface. By the time the cavities are noticed, it’s often because there is a much larger problem, and the cavity itself was never seen or felt by the patient.
With the widespread use of fluoride, many of these cavities never make it to the tooth’s surface, and instead begin eating away at the tooth from the inside out. The DIAGNOdent laser helps locate these small areas of decay.
If you would like to be screened for possible tooth decay and cavities, please contact our practice and schedule an appointment. Help your teeth stay healthy!
