About us

The Villages Florida Dentistry - Our Practice

Our purpose is to constantly strive for a level of excellence that will provide the best comprehensive dental care for our patients.

We provide our patients with the highest quality care in a state-of-the-art and warm atmosphere for all your dental needs from routine check ups, crowns, bridges, teeth restoration to total reconstruction.

For example, we have brought in new clinical tools, like an amazing miniature camera, which allows our patients to see what the dentist sees projected on a television screen. Then, through the miracle of computers, patients can see how we can improve their smiles and the health of their teeth...right on the television.

This leading-edge technology has helped countless patients understand what good dental care can do to make them look and feel their best.

"This type of technology aids us in patient communications, helps provide a better record of clinical procedures, documents patient conditions and provides better visual tools for proper diagnosis," said Dr. Farrell.

As part of our 5-Star Service, and to make each dental visit more comfortable, we offer our patients cable television and a large variety of movie choices for viewing, along with personal touches like blankets, massage mat on your dental chair, and hot towels for refreshing yourself after your visit.

GENERAL DENTISTRY

Our practice has built a solid reputation of delivering high-quality dental care in a clean, comfortable, professional -- and most of all -- friendly environment. While our practice is diversified, with patients ranging from children to seniors, we do provide special care for seniors. This may involve extensive tooth repair and replacement, along with cosmetic and functional restoration of the entire mouth. To ensure that patients receive the most current advances in dental treatment, we routinely attend dental educational and training seminars.

Periodontics

Florida Periodontics Periodontal disease is the primary reason for tooth loss in adults. Most gum disease starts when a bacterial infection attacks the gum and bone that support the teeth and hold them in the jaw. The disease is usually painless and may develop slowly or progress quite rapidly. You may not even be aware of its progress until the damage is so severe that tooth loss is inevitable. Be assured that we will do whatever is possible to help you keep your teeth healthy and functional. The highly trained staff of Dental Hygienists work closely with you and a periodontal plan to restore your oral health.

Endodontics

When a tooth has decay into the nerve or the nerve has abcessed, root canal therapy may be indicated to save the tooth. With today's modern instrumentations and techniques, root canal therapy has become very painless and quick, very often completed in one visit.

ToothOral Surgery

At Village Dental we favor the safety of an effective oral sedation to promote relaxation over more risky IV sedation. Unless a patient wishes to be given general anesthesia for surgical procedures, we are able to perform almost all of the surgical procedures needed by our patients in our office, saving our patients the inconvenience of traveling to an unfamiliar office for these procedures. For those patients who are nervous about their treatment, we provide prescription medication to help the patient relax along with a wide variety of movie choices (and cable television) for the patient to view. Our Five-Star Service provides a soothing, comfortable environment.

Invisalign (Tooth Straightening Without Braces)

Invisalign Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten teeth without braces. Using advanced 3-D computer imaging technology to project tooth movement, Invisalign® creates a series of clear, custom-made aligners (repositioners) that gradually move your teeth. You wear each aligner for about 2 weeks, moving to the next set, until the goals you agreed upon with your dentist are reached.

RESTORATIVE DENTISTRY

Prosthetics (Crowns, Bridges, and Dentures)

Crowns (or caps) are dental restorations that are placed over a tooth when conservative restorations are insufficient to restore form and function. A bridge serves to replace a missing tooth or teeth. One type of bridge consists of crowns placed on either side of the missing tooth to connect the replacement tooth or teeth to them. Another type of bridge consists of the replacement tooth attached to the adjacent teeth with wing-like appendages. Bridges can also be supported by dental implants. Crowns and bridges can be made entirely of tooth-colored material, metal, or a combination to provide optimal aesthetics. Some metal-free crowns and bridges incorporate stress-bearing materials to enhance their strength and wear-resistance.

Ceramic Porcelain Fused to Gold

When the breakdown of teeth require a crown in an area of high biting force, a ceramic porcelain crown strengthened with a metal, typically gold, may be called for. These restorations have been improved over the forty years since their introduction to dentistry and can rival the cosmetics of an all ceramic crown when done properly.

Cemented Bridgework

Cemented Bridgework When a tooth is missing or cannot be fixed, today we have the option of replacing it with an artificial tooth (implant) or constructing a restoration that spans the space of the lost tooth with an artificial tooth called a "pontic". This is called a fixed bridge. It is always held by a minimum of two natural teeth and can have one or more replacement , pontic, teeth. Even though this technology has been in use for most of the last century there have been dramatic improvements in the cosmetics of fixed bridges. There are situations in which an implant cannot be done or will not produce the cosmetic result required, so it is nice that we have fixed bridgework as an option.

Tooth Colored Restoration of Back Teeth

Amalgam Filling

Tooth Colored Filling

Today people are aware that back teeth are very noticeable when we talk and especially so when we laugh. Seeing dark unsightly areas of metal can detract from what otherwise might be a perfect set of teeth. If this is your concern, relax. Now we have available several options to correct this. In the case of small areas of decay or replacement of fillings that are not overly large, directly placed bonded tooth colored resin fillings can make a tooth look like new.

As back teeth receive a lot of heavy biting forces, large cavities and replacement of large old fillings could require the use of a porcelain ceramic or laboratory made resin ceramic inlay. While this approach requires two dental visits, the results can dramatically improve the health and attractiveness of back teeth.

IMPLANT DENTISTRY

Implant Dentistry Florida

Dental Implants are small prosthetic posts that are placed into the bone of the upper or lower jaw. They act as replacements for the root portion of lost natural teeth and also serve as an anchor for replacement teeth. Dental implants look and feel exactly like natural teeth -- in fact, no-one will be able to tell the difference. Dental implants are appropriate for almost anyone who is currently missing teeth or is at risk of losing teeth.

In many situations, dental implants can give patients back their confident smile. The benefits are improved esthetics, the ability to eat comfortably and a clean, healthy oral environment for the patient.

There are numerous advantages of dental implant treatment over other treatment options. It is not necessary to grind down the adjacent teeth for a bridge, or secure a partial denture to adjacent teeth with clasps or hooks, which can cause tooth loosening. Implant-supported replacement teeth spare patients many of the disadvantages of traditional false teeth.

There are many different types of dental implants available, however the most common dental implants are called "root form implants." Our dentists have extensive experience in dental implants and would be pleased to discuss the benefits of implant prosthetics with you. Ask about implant restorative treatment at the time of your consultation.

Simplant

SimPlant is precise preoperative planning software that provides an increased level of confidence and an extra margin of safety for your patients. A plan is created for the ideal positioning of implants, in both 2D and 3D, while taking into account both clinical and esthetical considerations.

Dental Implants can offer solutions for:

  1. The patient that cannot speak or chew comfortably with conventional dentures.
  2. The patient who is missing teeth and wants to avoid a removable partial denture.
  3. The patient who has an exaggerated gag reflex and cannot maintain dentures of any kind in the mouth.
  4. The patient who is wearing dentures and wants a fixed appliance to increase function/ cosmetics/ hygiene/ and psychological acceptance of replacement of missing teeth.
  5. The patient who needs to increase their ability to chew better to aid in the digestive process.

Teeth-in-an-Hour

A new surgical procedure allowing the placement of dental implants in less than an hour.. What makes Teeth-In-An-Hour different is the fact that it allows the dentist to use a software program to place implants virtually, before the procedure is performed on the patient. The dentist emails the virtual model to the Swedish company Nobel Biocare, which creates a custom-made guide, showing exactly where to drill holes for the implant. This allows the dentist more precise planning for a minimally invasive surgery. The surgery produces no bleeding, requires no stiches, and has little if no pain involved. Dr. Farrell of Village Dental was one of the first dentist in Florida to perform this new technique.

COSMETIC DENTISTRY IN FLORIDA

Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are routinely used to cover teeth which are discolored, worn, chipped, or misaligned.

Porcelain veneers, often alternatively termed dental veneers or dental porcelain laminates, are wafer-thin shells of porcelain which are bonded onto the front side of teeth in order to cosmetically improve their appearance and function.

Typically veneers are difficult to stain, making veneers a very popular solution for many people seeking that perfect smile. Strong and very durable, veneers last from ten to fifteen years, and come in colors that will brighten dark teeth without the worry of them changing color. Veneers are typically done in only two appointments, and can actually strengthen your tooth.

Bleaching / Whitening

A whitening gel is placed in a customized tray that fits over your teeth. As the active ingredient in the gel, carbamide peroxide, is broken down, oxygen enters the enamel and bleaches the colored substances. The structure of the tooth is not changed; only the tooth is made lighter and whiter. Fillings, crowns, and bonding will not lighten. Some people may experience temporary tooth sensitivity. This usually occurs in the first week and will cease when you are not whitening your teeth.
